Tangled Sage About Page Concept

Our Story

Wild elegance, rooted in Moab.

Tangled with intention.

Tangled Sage evolved from a side hustle, creating and selling living designs, into a full-on wedding and event design studio with a uniquely artful point of view.

The Brains Behind the Brand

Meet Toni.

Hi there! Welcome to my laboratory—I'm so happy you're here!

I struck out on my own in 2017, when I left a corporate wellness career to play with plants, words, and music. Not super clear on where I'd ultimately land, I had some solid ideas for how I wanted my life to look. Namely, I knew that whatever I did next would need to infuse more meaning and beauty into my day-to-day. And I also knew that I'd need to be the master of my own destiny. I started a small craft business, selling succulent arrangements at craft fairs, and it very quickly evolved into doing succulent-based wedding floral. I never dreamed my little project would grow into the flourishing events business it is today, but here we are, and I couldn't be prouder of what we've built.

I come from a long line of entrepreneurs, artists, and stage performers, and I have always been pulled toward working with my hands—whether it's playing music, building floral installations, painting, or gardening. Very much to my surprise, flowers have found their way to the top of the pile again and again.

Growing this business has become my life's passion—to bring joy and art in the form of flowers to your most special and important days is truly my deepest honor.

Also, my husband, Loren, and I are obsessed with our dogs, Beatrice and Jasper. They're both very good flower models.

Origin

From a hobby to a business

What began with a love of gardening, succulents, workshops, and craft fairs gradually and unexpectedly moved toward weddings, where flowers could become part of a larger atmosphere alongside our prized magical plants.

Moab

The landscape sharpened the style

In 2020, we moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Moab, UT. Red rock, desert textures, and the realities of outdoor events in the desert gave the work a stronger sense of place and taught me how to build bomb-proof mechanics. #Wildelegance became our motto as a way of expressing the unique design aesthetic we bring to the table. We love the idea of marrying opposing ideas: soft and gritty, stable and ephemeral, steely and sculptural.

Now

Tangled Sage Event Artistry

Today, the studio is centered on floral artistry and more complex event design for couples and clients across Southeast Utah, Western Colorado, and the greater Southwest region (we also travel where we can!). Our skills, vision, and experience have grown not only into a thriving passion project, but a successful business too.

The Creative Circle

Behind the beauty is a trusted team.

The best event work relies not only on skills, but on trust and repeatability. I work with a small circle of highly skilled and endlessly reliable creative partners.

Our team understands the demands of the landscape, the required pace of event days, and the attention to detail it takes to make your event seamless.

What Guides Us

The Values beneath the flowers.

We are avid outdoors people and conservationists who value Leave No Trace ethics. We care about the landscape where our events take place, and we're happy to share ideas for how you and your guests can spend meaningful time in Moab.

Artful, never generic Sculptural florals, interesting textures, and unexpected details create event decor with our unique point of view.
Grounded in place Design choices that feel connected to the landscape hosting the celebration without feeling the need to match the red rock—in the right hands, any palette can work in this majestic place.
Welcoming by design We LOVE what we do, and it shows through every interaction we have with our couples and clients, their guests, and all of the vendors we collaborate with. We love playing the role of local liaison—let us know what you need, and we'll do our best to help you find it in town!
