Rock Climbers Wed in Moab: Hannah and Ben

Blonde bride in Moab UT

As a destination wedding location, Moab hosts a ton of visitors coming here to get married in one of nature’s most perfect creations: the red rock desert. Our small but mighty wedding industry welcomes travelers from all over the globe to come and enjoy the gorgeous landscapes, majestic views, and blue skies. But every once in a while, we get to work with fellow Moabites, and Hannah and Ben were two of our local stars in 2022.

Hannah had a ton of ideas and a big family in tow, so we worked to overtime to find ways to go big for this special day. Since it was a May wedding, Moab was bursting with wildflowers, which we used as much as possible to achieve the perfect blend of wild refinement.

The ceremony took place at a sweeping overlook, and we adorned the altar with two golden pedestals topped with overflowing florals. The sizeable wedding party gathered around the special couple for tons of fun and festive snaps that really showcased the couple’s personality.

To account for potential winds at the Red Earth Venue platform site, we strapped our gold four-poster floral arrangements down with zip-ties and created rock cairns at each base, which carried a double purpose. As avid climbers and outdoorspeople, Hannah and Ben rely on cairns to show them the way through the desert, so we used them not only to secure the florals but also to signify the journey and adventure of marriage.

Using succulent-filled terrariums, floral-filled bud vases, and multi-colored table runners to complement the large floral pieces on the gold four-posters, we created elegant tablescapes with dynamic heights and varying colors.

For floral ingredients, we leaned on the beauty of what Moab has to offer for this local couple. Hannah wanted warm and neutral tones, so we opted for globe mallow and bitterbrush, two native flowers that we simply can’t get enough of in the springtime. We also included an array of golds, neutrals, and dusty pinks to create a spring feel all around.
